Jim Carlen, CFA, Senior Portfolio Manager
Jim Carlen is the portfolio manager on the Columbia Emerging Markets Bond Fund at Columbia Management Investment Advisers, LLC. Mr. Carlen joined Columbia Management Investment Advisers in 1996 and has been a member of the investment community since 1991.
Prior to joining Columbia Management Investment Advisers, Mr. Carlen was an international economist at the Department of the Treasury in Washington, D.C., working on the Mexico Task Force and in the Office of the Former Soviet Union.
Mr. Carlen earned a B.A. from the University of St. Thomas and an M.S. in international finance from Georgetown University Foreign Service School. He also completed courses in macroeconomic stabilization at the International Monetary Fund Institute in Washington, D.C. He is a member of the CFA Society of Minnesota. In addition, he holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
